It was a very good weekend for our Junior Boys Basketball team at the ISA championships in Vancouver. The first game of the weekend started quite slowly for the boys as they continue to fight off the December Break rust. They managed to turn on the energy in the second half and pulled away for a 54-30 victory over Southridge.  The semi-final game saw the boys play against the host team from St. Johns and it was an incredible start to the game that sealed the victory as the team staked a 22-4 lead in the first quarter. Brendan S, Ellis ‘18 had a great game shooting the ball finishing with 8 three pointers. The final score was 56-33 for Brentwood. This set up a challenging final game against the provincially #6 ranked St. Georges Saints. It was clear from the beginning of the game that our boys would not be intimidated by the Saints size or reputation. Aaron S was particularly aggressive, making steals and converting them with critical baskets and a game high 23 points, including 5 three pointers. It was a team effort in the final but Manuel G and Casper P demonstrated flashes of stellar play that will be needed as we gather ourselves for the second half of the season. IN the end it was a 4 point loss, but one that showed a great deal of promise. This weekend will be the Junior Boys Brentwood Challenge tournament hosted at our own Woodward Sportsplex on Friday and Saturday. Please come out and support! Mr. Liam Sullivan, Coach
