Brentwood’s Junior A Girls Volleyball team had a great season. The team exceeded all expectations from the very start. We played in 7 tournaments: Isfeld, Dover Bay, Belmont, VIU, ISAs, Central Islands & Islands. While most school teams draw upon their local clubs for players, we spent the first half of the season coming together as a group, tightening fundamental skills, and learning team systems and strategy. After playing in some tough pools early in the season, we managed to win a couple of B side events. The tournament at Belmont was particularly satisfying with some well-fought victories. Our proudest moment of the season was coming first in the Central Island region. At this event we played some of our most dynamic volleyball and crushed all of the challengers without losing a single set.

I am also very proud of how our team played their hardest in some very difficult games at the Island Tournament. We really came together as a group and some of the greatest moments were spent on the bus rides singing, as well as on the court playing hard for each other. Our very last game as a team was bitter-sweet, but we played hard and won in the third set. It was terrific to see the girls finish the season on a high note and build on the momentum we made throughout the season. There is amazing potential in this group and I’m looking forward to seeing my teammates improve even more next year.
