It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a Brentwood Grad in possession of some free time, must be in want of a tea party.

In early June, as spring turned to summer, the AP Literature 12 students celebrated the culmination of their intellectual literary journeys with the annual Jane Austen Tea Party.

Austen's Pride and Prejudice remains a staple of the AP Literature curriculum and the students, having studied the piece, role played in costume, decked out in morning coats, celebratory frocks and fetching bonnets. I never in my life saw anything more elegant than their dresses. They enjoyed dancing, egg salad sandwiches, scones, baked goods, and each other’s company.

Thanks to Ms Widenmaier who organized the event, Ms Staples who led the dancing, the Food Services Staff for providing the victuals, and, most importantly, Ms Sally Smith for outfitting all fifty of us in transformational finery.
