Jaguars Sighted on Campus!

Brentwood’s rugby program was fortunate to host the Argentinian Rugby Union Jaguars this past Thursday. Their national team coaches led Brentwood’s senior and junior, male and female, rugby players through a quick, high-level practice suited for all skill levels. The drills focused on passing and defensive movement as well as reacting to a defense, which are all necessary skills to become a successful rugby player.  Meanwhile, the Argentinian men’s team was enjoying the Brentwood experience. The athletes ate lunch in the cafeteria with the rest of the student body, took a swim on the ocean to soothe their aching muscles, watched game film in the McNeill Centre, and had an intense gym session in our high performance center. The team was impressed with Brentwood’s state-of-the-art facilities. The Jaguars were on Vancouver Island competing in the America’s Rugby Championships which they won, defeating Uraguay, the United States and, yes, even Canada. Brentwood looks forward to hosting the Jaguars again next year for another reunion of rugby cultures. Joe L, Ellis ‘14
