Island Championships for Basketball Teams

8 February 2010

Three teams from Brentwood are heading to the Island Championships next week in the hopes of moving onto the Provincial Championships. Considering the depth of competition on the Island, this is a most impressive feat. On Saturday, our Senior Girls' team came 4th in the North Island Tournament which allows them to compete in the 8-team Island tournament this coming weekend. The Senior Boys's (ranked #1 on the Island and #6 in the Province) won the South Islands beating SMUS (for more information: http://www.timescolonist.com/sports/Brentwood+tops+SMUS+Lower+Island+title/2533879/story.html). They play Woodlands this coming Thursday in the first game of the Island Tournament. As well, our impressive Junior Boys' squad (18-2), missing two key starters, defeated Shawnigan on Saturday and Kelsey on Tuesday to win the Mid-Islands.
