On May 18th, one of Brentwood’s rare and special Red and Black days, the Senior Boys Rugby team played the Island Championship game against one of their biggest rivals, St. Michaels. Thankfully, Brentwood had already qualified for provincials because we lost the game by 19 to 27. The game was also integral in determining rankings at the Provincial Championship.  It was one of the closest and most exciting rugby games the Senior Boys have played this year; Brentwood scored three tries. The first was scored by Ethan Y, Ellis ‘17, followed by a grandiose score from all-star Will P, Rogers’ 17.  However, when Kieran MH, Rogers ‘17 scored his try, the game became more and more intense with the score 19 to 20. Brentwood continued to exert intense effort, but with four minutes left in the game, we made an errors and there was a questionable officiating call. SMUS used this hiccup to score another try, and a subsequent conversion, for a 19-27 endscore.  After the game, there was a barbecue up on Gillespie Field for both teams as well as for students on one of the warmest afternoons of 2017. The Brentwood boys are now looking forward to playing in the Provincial Championships next weekend where they go in as the #3 seed. Konrad K & Julius C, Whittall ‘19
