International Dinners At Brentwood

A classic Brentwood tradition is the international dinners that take place throughout the year. Whether it be sushi from the Japan empanadas from our South American, or pasta from Italy you can expect to indulge in a variety of cuisines during your time at Brentwood, thanks to the Food Services Team, the SAC, Mrs McLean, and our international students. Hosting international dinners is a way to celebrate our many nationalities at school. International dinner organizer, Yuma K, says that she “enjoys getting to help organize international dinners because they give me a new perspective of the various cultures at Brentwood”. These dinners also help to build a sense of community as students volunteer to help set up decorations and serve food. Students dress up in their country’s traditional clothing, make a playlist of songs from that country, and decorate the cafeteria in various colours and flags.  As a team, students get to honor their culture and show their peers the festivities, music and food that they normally get to enjoy back home. International dinners are not only a way for us to try new and delicious foods, but a way for students to recognize other cultures and traditions, uniting our Brentwood community through diversity.
