Interhouse Voting

2 May 2011
jim.ganley
On Thursday, April 28 Brentwood held its own Student Vote ballot in the McNeil Centre. Organized by Mr. Wismer and his Social Studies 11 class, it was huge success with voter turnout above 70%.
To encourage our Brentwood faculty, alumni and parents to also cast their ballot on Monday, May 2, the turnout of the Student Vote, combined with faculty, alumni and parent turnout on Monday, will be a be used to determine the winner of a friendly interhouse competition with the best house feasting on pizza.
Here’s how it will work. The house with the greatest percentage voter turnout wins the respect of democracy lovers everywhere (and pizza). Each house will add the number of its members who voted (this includes current students, their parents, house alumni, and even the duty staff) and then divide by the number of students in the residence.
Alumni, faculty and parents can assist their child’s house in winning the free pizza feast by voting for the party of their choice on Monday and then emailing their respective house. Please ensure that “I voted for Canada” and your name are in the subject line. Please DO NOT reveal who you voted for.
Voter turnout in the last federal election in Canada was a dismal 59%. Let’s do our part to encourage informed, passionate voting. Democracy: use it or lose it! Happy voting everyone!
If you are an alumni or parent who would like to assist your house is its pursuit of a pizza treat please email the appropriate link on Monday between 9 am and 10 pm PST Monday. Please DO NOT tell us who you voted for, just that you DID vote. Thanks!
