There's a place where hopes, dreams, and traditions live on through music and culture. Join us for an evening out at the Tony Award winning musical about home, family and finding where you belong. Brentwood presents “In The Heights” at the T. Gil Bunch Centre for Performing Arts, March 5th to 9th at 7:30 nightly. Tickets available at http://tgb.brentwood.bc.ca or call 743-8756. Parents attending the final performance of “In the Heights” on Saturday March 9th are warmly invited to join us immediately following the show for a Parent Reception in the McNeill Centre in Crooks Hall. Please email lara.mcdonald@brentwood.bc.ca if you are able to attend. “In the Heights” is a about life in Washington Heights, “a tight knit and vibrant community in New York, where the coffee from the corner bodega is light and sweet, the windows are always open and the breeze carries the rhythm of three generations of music. It is a community on the brink of change, full of hopes, dreams and passions, where the biggest struggles can be deciding which traditions you take with you, and which you leave behind.” During its New York run, it quickly became an audience phenomenon and a critical success with its gripping story, incredible dancing and progressive musical score. Its universal themes embrace family, community and self-discovery. It is the winner of the 2008 Tony Awards for Best Musical, Best Score, Best Choreography, and Best Orchestration. The musical will be directed by Mrs. Edna Widenmaier with Ms. Lorraine Blake choreographing the show and Mr. Phil Newns the Musical Director. More than 60 students compose the cast and crew.
