More than 7,000 miles distance and a seven hour time zone difference didn’t stop the Canberra Rugby Team from coming to challenge Brentwood on the rugby field on Tuesday, April 22nd. Some of the Australian students were received by day student families and the rest were distributed between Ellis, Whittall, and Privett. Play started with the Second XV which came out to the field ready, knowing that some of their players would have to keep going for a second game that same day due to all the recent injuries that have weakened our 1st XV. By 3:30 pm the upper rugby field was surrounded by spectators waiting to see an unforgettable game. The first half was looking good for Brentwood as the first try was scored by Ole B, Ellis ‘14, but Canberra caught up quickly. The two teams gave it their all and fought ferociously, never backing down. Nick W, Privett ‘14 successfully scored the second try, and Aaron H, Privett ‘15 perfectly kicked two conversions. Unfortunately, Brentwood lost 5 tries to 2. Regardless of the final score, both teams benefited greatly from the experience as students from our community were able to connect with people from across the world. We met new people and started new friendships. Our Brentwood hosts were very welcoming and friendly with the guests, living up to Brentwood standards. Daniel M, Privett ‘16
