Hong Kong Comestibles

6 November 2020

Following the delicious Nigerian Dinner that we enjoyed in late October, food from Hong Kong was served last Wednesday as a part of Fright Week. Hazel L and Julian W introduced the international celebration with some facts about Hong Kong: did you know that it is the most densely populated city in the world, and home to the largest number of skyscrapers?

Following those fun tidbits, the menu was announced; wontons and soup served at lunch, and sweet and sour pork, fried rice, dimsum, and dumplings for dinner. Milk tea with tapioca pearls was served as the beverage, along with one of my favourite foods, Hong Kong style egg tarts.

Brentwood’s SAC International Dinner Coordinator, Roisin B of Allard ‘21, says that “Organizing and setting up for the dinners takes time and effort”, but is still a good and worthwhile experience, as it helps “support our inclusive, international community”.

We are grateful to the food staff for preparing for us, yet again, a superb day filled with delicious treats. Watch out for French Day after midterm break!
