The Brentwood Varsity hockey team started out extremely hot before Christmas going 4-0. Much of the credit to this electric start goes to the coaching staff. At the top of this very devoted staff is Head Coach Tom Shadlock.  Longtime Head Coach Mike Flynn left very big shoes to fill, but Coach Shadlock has not disappointed. He has brought in new faces to the program, as well as serveral familiar ones.  Joining us this year is Assistant Coach Mr Neil Robinson and Junior Coach Mr Mario DeSandoli. The returning coaches are Coach Paul Kleinschmidt and, from the Kerry Park Islanders, Aaron Spotz.  The team honors many of Coach Flynn’s traditions and still use many of the same systems. One major tradition the team is proud to carry on is the annual Ross Cup.  Another tradition that will be carried on this year is the team’s trip to Eastern Canada. A fresh twist was put on this trip as the team will participate in an outdoor tournament in Buffalo, NY. Another reason for the team’s success is the leadership group. The team is led by Captain Mason S, Privett ‘18, Assistant Lanny L, Ellis ‘18 and Alternate Captain Lauchlan M, Privett ‘18. This group recently displayed their leadership skills by motivating the team through a long trip to Vancouver. The trip ended very well as the boys won 8-0. As the season intensifies, the players look forward to seeing how the amazing coaching staff and leadership team will continue to motivate the team, and hopefully keep us undefeated.  Haden U, Ellis ‘19
