Hockey 2022 - What An Ice Age!

The Brentwood Hockey program is fortunate to end the 2021-22 season off on a high note as all teams had successful seasons. The program produced 5 teams this season: Female, Junior B, Junior A, Senior B and Senior A, with some players rotating through multiple teams. Following a Covid-plagued 2021 season, the program was eager to bounce back and play some hockey.

We had players from around the world with varying hockey backgrounds who contributed greatly to their respective teams. Beginners made huge strides in their skating and skill development while experienced players continued to build upon their strengths and recognize their weak spots. All of this was made possible by our coaches volunteering their precious time in order to help all of us.

The juniors played many games against strong Kelsey and Cowichan teams. Many of the grade tens played for the senior team as well, exemplifying the bright future they bring to the program.

The senior team had a fantastic year starting out hot and continuing that way all season long and into the Ross Cup playoffs. The team went undefeated against Cowichan, Kelsey and Shawnigan with one tie to both Prince of Wales and Cowichan. Every game was exciting and gritty as 'come back' became a common theme throughout the season. The showcase game was the season highlight as Brentwood was able to put Shawnigan away 2-1 in front of a packed crowd and deafening Brentwood students.
Ross Cup was undeniably a success for every program as we continued to prove our name as a predominant hockey school with both the Junior and Senior teams making the finals in their respective divisions.

On behalf of the hockey program, I would like to thank coach Pascal, Mr. Interlandi, Mr. Flynn, Coach Dennis, Mr. DeSandoli, Mr. Parent, coach Spotts, Mr. Robinson and Mr. Shadlock. In addition to them, our season wouldn't have been possible without everyone behind the scenes, like Kelsey Mclroy, organizing schedules and making sure everything ran smoothly.
