What better way to spend midterm than traveling across the country? For our November Midterm break from November 1-7, 49 Grade 12 Brentwood students, as well as faculty 3 chaperones, flew across the country to the East to visit 14 of Canada’s best universities. The purpose of this trip was to provide us with a first-hand experience of what it feels like to be on each campus, as seeing each campus makes a real difference for many students. Additionally, we were able to learn about the unique programs each school provides that could potentially draw us to their school. Needless to say, the trip was exhausting; we visited 14 universities in a matter of 6 days, either taking a bus or plane each day to reach the next destination. The lineup of universities visited in order was the University of Toronto, McMaster, Guelph, Waterloo or Wilfrid Laurier, Western, Dalhousie, Acadia, Saint Mary’s, St. Francis Xavier, McGill, Queen’s, Carleton, and finally, the University of Ottawa. Fortunately, throughout the consistent hustle that was required of us, we were not only able to have some downtime, but we were also able to enjoy the beautiful scenery and the interesting sites that central and eastern Canada has to offer. Some of us even took it upon ourselves to visit the Parliament Building in Ottawa! Through the excitement, it would be difficult not to forget the main purpose of the trip: giving us students some insight into what our future might hold. The majority of us reported having received beneficial insight into where they would like to attend university next year, making the 2017 Canadian UniTour a great success! Thanks to Mr Rodrigues, Mr Kingstone, Ms Thompson. & Mr D'Orazio for taking making all of this possible.
