Halloween at Brentwood

Falling on the day of Hope Open House, Halloween at Brentwood was far from unmemorable. With houses across campus filled with decorations, it conveyed an ominous atmosphere. Large insects, spider webs, and carved pumpkins were scattered across the campus - to capture the Halloween theme.

This frightening day also involved a plethora of impressive costumes and outfits, including an unexpected appearance from “The Dude” himself - otherwise known as Martin Barry - whose outfit was just short of perfection missing only the critical White Russian. When posed the question regarding the costume success of this year's Halloween, Martin felt overwhelmed in his response, stating that, “The creativity of this year's costumes were as intelligently crafted as the first Ipod” Martin B, Whittall ‘24.

On top of the creative and excellent showcase of costumes, Hope Open House was down-right impressive, with decorations covering the entire house, and an even more remarkable display of costumes compared to the day, making this event a perfect conclusion to the Halloween festivities.

Despite Halloween falling on Sunday, October 31st, the celebration was intensified by the days leading up to the Sunday, including Spirit Day falling on October 25th. This acted as an indicator of which house has the most spirit, which also comes with bragging rights for the winner. The winner of this year's Spirit Day was Alex House, led by fearless House Captain, Justine C, Alex ‘22, whose enthusiasm for her house's success comes from “The amazing energy from all the girls in the house.”

Halloween at Brentwood is celebrated more so than most other holidays as a way to show house spirit, creativity, and, even more so, to show off your costumes.
