It's that time of year again when the temperature begins to rise and the Grads make their ascent out of Brentwood. The journey to Graduation is a rocky road, filled with a myriad of emotions, excitement, and, most importantly, meticulous planning.

A Brentwood Graduation wouldn't be complete without the big white tent on Campbell Commons, but how does it all come together?

Ms Ramsey, Whittall Assistant Houseparent, as well as SAC & Grad Sponsor, shoulders an immense responsibility each year. She and her team meticulously plans every detail related to Grad. From vital tasks like securing The Plaza Fairmont in Victoria for the Grad Dinner, to finer points such as coordinating tuxedo rentals through the school, every thought put into grad by Ms Ramsey and her team plays a crucial role in the success of the Graduation ceremony.

When asked about her role, Ms Ramsey shared, “Success is often the result of taking a misstep in the right direction. My misstep landed me on the Brentwood  campus. During my time here, I have had the opportunity to be in many roles, one of which is Grad Sponsor. If someone had told me, even a year ago, that I would have the privilege of working with 144 graduating students and their families, I would never have believed it, and yet here I am. It is a bittersweet role. In one sense, I am getting closer to the graduating students than I've ever been in the past, but in one short month, I must say goodbye to them. What a gift.”

As graduation draws nearer, the tremendous planning efforts invested by the staff are reciprocated by the students. University plans are being finalized, graduation tickets are being purchased, and hair appointments are being scheduled. It truly is an extraordinary event for the entire school community to witness. “As much as I am overjoyed for the Grads to be moving on to the next chapter, I am extremely sad to say goodbye to my best friends. It is lucky that Brentwood provides such an amazing ceremony for the Grad class. They deserve something special”, expressed Mariana S, Hope '24, speaking about the graduating seniors.

The grad class is immensely grateful for the tireless efforts of the staff in organizing graduation: “It’s great how much we get here at Brentwood. I am excited to graduate knowing we get such a beautiful venue and everything is planned to the detail for us”, remarked Lucy M, Mack '23.

A heartfelt thank you to Ms Ramsey and the remarkable team that orchestrates the Graduation!
