The 25th Annual Monster Erg Championships is a satellite event for the Canadian Indoor Rowing Championships that is held annually all across Canada on the same day, February 7th. Athletes competing in 37 different categories race over 1000 or 2000 meters on a Concept II rowing ergometer for the coveted “Tough Enough” t-shirt or the lofty title as “National Champion” of Canada. This year over 2000 athletes competed, with the largest numbers being in the high school divisions. The Brentwood results were excellent with some outstanding performances, as well as personal bests from most of the athletes competing. The highlight was Martin B winning the Junior B division in 6:28, beating a rower from Victoria City Rowing Club by seven seconds. No other Jr. B male rower from the six satellite regattas posted a time anywhere near Martin’s. Until the announcement is made, Martin can claim the National Championship – hardware to follow! The other first place victory was achieved by our Junior Mixed Fours event. The junior boys, Mike M and Ben F, joined up with our junior girls Alia V and Danica M to claim the golden Monster Erg t-shirt. In the other events in Victoria, Brentwood results were as follows:
