Grad Spirit Day

On October 4th, Grad President Desola O, Hope, ‘20 and her Grad Council organized the first Spirit Day for the class of 2020. This day gave our grad class an opportunity to come together and showcase the strong bond we have. Throughout the school year, the grads get multiple dress-up days and fun events. For the grads first spirit day of the year, the theme was kindergarten day. We all dressed up as kindergarten students during the academic classes and played a competitive, fun game of capture the flag in the evening.

Our grad spirit day started the night before when each girl's house got 30 minutes to go to the boy's houses to help pick out outfits for Kindergarten Day. The grad council decided to mix up the houses instead of doing brother-sister houses to get the opportunity to spend time with different people. “It was cool because we got to talk to other girl houses and they helped pick out better outfits then we could have by ourselves,” Will M, Privett ‘20 says. The Grad class enjoyed a flashback into their past wearing overalls, onesies, bright colors and having their stuffed animal companions by their sides.

During the evening, all the grads participated in capture the flag. There were four teams made up of brother-sister houses: Alex-Whittall, Rogers-Allard, Mack-Ellis, and Hope-Privett. Each team had 10 minutes to hide 3 flags and choose their jail location in their designated areas around the whole campus. “It was so much fun!” Michael TC, Rogers ‘20 said. This was a great way to bring all of the grad class together and work together and against each other. From guarding bases to invading zones, everyone's effort counted. After an intense hour-long game of capture the flag, Alex-Whittall took home the win.

This was a great first event for the class of 2020. Our next event will be a fun and spooky event called “The Festival of Fear” at Galey Farm on the Saanich Peninsula. We are all looking forward to this.
