Golden Weekend for Brentwood’s Rowers

This past weekend, Brentwood had three present students and three alumni racing at Rowing Canada’s National Championships on Elk Lake. Claire V from London, Ontario was crowned National Junior Champion. Similarly, Martin B from Nanaimo, BC, won the Men’s Junior single title. He also won the bronze medal in the Under 23 category. Lance B from Victoria, BC, won the E final and finished 6th in the Junior Men’s single. Grade 12 student, Andrew Crowley from Lantzville, BC, teamed up with 2010 grad Ben Coull in the Junior Men’s pair. They finished 4th in the C final and were awarded the bronze medal in the junior division. Quinn Erickson, Class of 2009, has returned to rowing after taking last year off and improved over the course of the weekend, finishing 4th in the D final. Scott Frandsen, Class of 1998 and 2008 Olympic silver medalist, won the Grand Final in the Men’s pair in one of the most exciting races of the day. Brentwood alumni Malcolm Howard (single) and Dave Calder (eight) continue their preparation for next month’s World Rowing Championships in New Zealand.
