The Brentwood Senior Tennis team defeated 5 other teams to win the 2010 Island Tennis Championships. The team got off to a slow start in the morning losing to St. Michael's University School, however, they rebounded to defeat Lambrick Park School of Victoria 9 sets to 2. This placed them 2nd in their pool and matched them with Glenlyon Norfolk in the semi-finals. The team played hard and defeated GNS 8 sets to 3. This set up a final match with Shawnigan Lake School who had defeated SMU in the other semi-final. The final was a tightly contested event with 4 of the sets going to a tie-breaker. The Brentwood team played tough and won all of the tie breakers to defeat Shawnigan 6 sets to 5 and claim the island championship. The team will travel to the provincial championships in Vancouver at the end of May.

Team members include Tara V., Indre S., Gina L., Amanda M., Kirsty M., Nicole P., Robert S., Andrew L., Henryk S., Gage M., John B., Ben H., Kevin K., Connor S.

This past weekend, the Brentwood Rugby Team also fought hard for a big win against their competitors. Brentwood edged past St. Michael's University School, in premier league rugby, winning 21-20. Try scorers for Brentwood were Wesley D., and Brendan R. who both played well in the 1st half. Both tries were converted by Matt L. St. Michael's University School came back and took the lead 20-14 before Gavin S. made another line break, chipped over the opposing full-back, regathered the ball and passed it to Matt L. who scored under the posts. Matt L. then converted his try to move Brentwood ahead 21-20 and ultimately sealed the win for the team.

Well done teams!
