This past weekend, the girls' rugby team played two of their best games of the season to qualify for the BC AA Championships. On Friday, they beat a tough and determined Ladysmith side 17-10 by moving the ball wide to earn tries for wingers Dani R. (2) and Nicole R. Next, they turned back the Ladysmith running attack with some solid defense. On Saturday, after being down two tries to Shawnigan, the girls responded by shutting down the Shawnigan attack completely by scoring two superb tries by Dani R. Crystal L. converted both tries for a 14-12 lead, which held up until a penalty awarded in the final seconds, which gave Shawnigan a one point win. The team has every reason to be proud of their performance.
