Girls Rugby: first setback of the season

This past Saturday, the girls rugby team suffered their first loss of the season against Shawnigan Lake School. Although we were depleted somewhat by injuries and illness, the girls competed well against an older, well prepared side. The forwards scrummaged and rucked very well, providing a good supply of ball for the backs, but the line-out was erratic. Geneva and Denise reacted positively to the challenge, tackling promptly and running with purpose. On both attack and defence we were under more pressure than in any game played to date. This pressure led to mistakes in handling and positioning that the opposition capitalised on. To their credit, the girls competed superbly and we look forward to the Island tournament this coming weekend.
