Girls Rugby: another win against Carson Graham

22 April 2009
Jim Burrows
On sunny Monday afternoon, in front of an enthusiastic home crowd, the girls rugby team faced Carson Graham SS, one of the strongest AAA teams in the province. The opposition played their 2nd XV (bolstered by some of their better players later in the game) which explains the rather flattering score. Nellie and Geneva ran hard and straight, passing the ball well and creating spectacular scoring runs for Dani, Ginny, Rianne and Dylan. The forwards dominated the set scrums and won quick ruck ball most of the time, too. The back row and Rona attacked well from the bases of scrums and rucks while a number of the forwards ran strongly with the ball following second and third phases. Lucy Davis's try late in the game came from just that kind of support. The team's next game is at home next Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. against Stellys.
