The Senior Girls Basketball team had another successful tournament this past weekend at Shawnigan Lake School. The girls opened up the tournament with a win against Cedar, 49-41. Player of the game honours went to Emily H who battled through an early finger injury; Madlen A was the top scorer.
The team’s second contest was against the home team. The girls pushed the ball up the court and used their height advantage in convincing style, 57-30. The top scorer was Spencer M (18 points), Ashley C (also named the player of the game) and Ailish T with 10.
In the final game of the tournament, the squad faced the athletic and skilled Kwalikum. The girls worked hard all game, never gave up, and won the game by 3 points, 46 – 43, after being down in the last few minutes. Player of the game honours went to Spencer M while Madlen A was the top scorer with 21 points.
This is the second tournament win for the girls this season. The team is currently a perfect 7-0 in league and tournament play. Next up is a league game away against SLS this afternoon at 5:00.
