Rowers are curious if things are winding up or down as the Shawnigan Lake School Regatta (SLSR) marks the last regatta before Nationals in St. Catharines, Ontario. This past weekend Brentwood entered fifty-two crews in this year’s SLSR regatta and rowed away with eight victories from the weekend. Winning the Sr Mens and Womens 4+, the Sr Mens 2x, the Sr Mens Lwt  4+, the Sr Womans 2x, the JV Mens 2x, the Sr Mens 4x-, the Jr Mens 2x and, the new addition to the regatta, the Hungerford Cup.  This year SLSR incorporated the Hungerford Cup trophy which was awarded to the club which had the most overall points in the double, single and pair on both the Sr Mens and Womens side. Brentwood athletes were the first to have their names engraved on the trophy.  This regatta was the next and final stepping stone towards CSSRA which is not so far away now. Many crews confirmed their invitation to attend CSSRA by Brentwood’s new Head of Rowing, Ms Biesenthal.  In two weeks the athletes and their coaches will jump on a plane and head to Ontario. With only two weeks to find maximum speed, strength, and power it is time to get to the final stages of the work. Nerves are raising and tensions are rising but each Brentwood athlete is learning how to manage nerves, morning rows, school, sleep, and life, generally.  Emma H, Allard ‘18
