Mrs. Pennells, Mrs. Felix and Mrs. Quinton are taking 27 senior Brentwood students to the Free The Children's annual We Day in Vancouver, Tuesday, September 29 from 9am -3pm at GM Place. We Day is a one-of-a-kind event featuring inspirational and motivational speeches and performances by leading activities, speakers and entertainers, such as, The Dalai Lama, Dr. Jane Goodall, Robert Kennedy Jr., Jeffrey Skoll (founder of eBay) and football player, Michael "Pinball" Clemons, actress Jessica Biel, and singer Jason Mraz. It is an annual celebration of the power of young people to change the world. It's also the official kick-off to youth-led world-changing action.
Brentwood students will take action throughout 2009-2010 through Free The Children's campaigns to raise awareness and funds for local and international initiatives. Donations will build schools and provide clean water and alternative income streams for some of the most impoverished people in the world.
Thousands of students will be attending, but each school is limited to 30 seats. Those students not attending WE DAY can watch the exciting event on a live video feed. CTV will bring live coverage of the events via video streaming on their WE DAY website.
