The organization known as FISABC (Federation of Independent Schools of BC) celebrated its 50th year by hosting a convention in Vancouver this past week. Over 5000 educators attended including 8 Brentwood teachers who all gave up part of their Midterm Break in the cause of professional development.  Speakers at the event included Daniel Pink of "Drive" fame, Commander Chris Hadfield, and educational thought leader Yong Zhao. In addition, there were numerous 'Ed Talks" and breakout sessions on a variety of topics all designed to help us consider the future of education and to exemplify best practices.  In all, it was a two day event exceptionally well organized with numerous interesting and inspiring messages that combined to help us get a better picture of how teaching and learning is evolving in our schools and those across the world.  Being able to attend as a Brentwood group also provided ample time to compare notes and pull together a lot of information. As a school, we remain committed to providing access to professional development opportunities that enable us to then bring ideas and examples back to the Mill Bay "bubble".
