The Senior Boy’s First XV kicked off their season with a convincing 31-7 victory over Claremont last week. The boys dominated up front with a convincing scrum led by Scott P, Danny H, and Davin K who also notched three tries in his First XV debut. The rest of the forwards were relentless all day, providing ruthless tackles accompanied by a great solo try from our 8-man, Ian M. The backs also began the season sharply with centers Mike M and Tom L carving apart the defense at will, allowing the back 3 of Toby D, Dan E, and Austin G to display their speed. Fly half Adam M also tagged on 4 conversions and a penalty.

The team continued their winning ways by defeating a strong Australian touring school, Somerset College, 22-7 on Thursday. The game was a tight battle in the opening half under damp conditions with the boys up 3-0 at the break. The second half, however, was a different story as Davin K leapt over for another try after a bruising run. The pack once again took control with lock Marius S scoring his first ever try thanks to some dazzling footwork. Adam M converted both kicks. However, the highlight of the day came in the closing seconds of the match as substitute Zhi-Yao C blocked and recovered a kick to dive over the line to finish the match.

The team is off to a fast start and is looking forward to their next match against a solid Oak Bay squad on Tuesday, April 17the at 4:00 at Oak Bay.
