The 1st X1 are the 2008 ISA Champions!  This weekend's annual ISA tournament was held on the new turf at Glenlyon Norfolk School.  Brentwood's first opponent was Southridge School and it was a very physical game, but the girls came out on top with a goal by Rachelle Young.  The semi-final against Crofton House (last year's
winner) was tied 0-0 at the end of regulation play.  In the resultant penalty strokes, Connie Wylie and Dani Robb scored two strokes and Renata Morris was solid in net, which meant that the game would be decided by sudden-death strokes.  Connie Wylie was up first and put the ball away; Renata followed by stoning the Crofton player's first attempt to end the game.  In the final, Brentwood proved too much for Collingwood and was ahead 3-0 with goals by Rachelle, Denesha, and Alex Miller Hatton before Collingwood finally put one past Renata.  Alex scored again, but unfortunately the goal was called back. There was no doubt, however, that the girls deserved the win.

On the previous Tuesday, the team travelled to Comox to play league games against Mark R. Isfeld and Highland Secondary School.  The girls dominated play beating Isfeld 4-0 with goals from Mary Nielsen (2), Rachelle and Emma Head.  Kate Philippson let the scoring against Highland with 4 goals and Denesha, Crystal Lockhart and Mie Maxwell-Smith adding singles for a final score of 8-0.  Savannah Salas earned the shutouts.  The team were thankful for the support from the Erickson family. All these  results indicate a very promising start to our season.
