Field Hockey Hosts Friendship Cup
This past weekend the First XI Field Hockey girls hosted the inaugural tournament of the season. The Friendship Cup consisted of ten teams divided into two pools. Led by veterans Sammy J and Amanda M, the team beat QMS 5-0 before falling to Mount Doug 3-1 and Mark Isfeld 1-0 (with their goal being scored with minutes left in the game).
The following day, our girls lost 5 – 0 to an experienced Cowichan team. In our final game of the tournament, GNS did not have enough players so we loaned them some of ours and played a friendly match. The teams were evenly matched and the score was 1-1 with Sammy J putting the ball into the back of the net.
Considering this is the first time the team has played together in a game situation, they were outstanding and good sports to everyone on the field.
