Field Hockey 1st XI Showcase vs. Shawnigan

19 October 2010
This past Saturday Brentwood’s 1st XI field hockey team went head to head against the 2010 ISA champions, Shawnigan Lake School. After a disappointing loss this past Tuesday to our valley rivals, the Brentwood girls were ready to play their hearts out. The girls were extremely focused, and had an intense warm up. Their intensity did not quit when they started to play. SLS got a quick goal on the girls, but we did not give up. Instead, we worked even harder. The girls outplayed SLS and were rewarded late in the game with a short corner. Denesha D buried it with a reverse chip shot, but the game was not over yet. The girls had to work hard to maintain their well deserved tie when SLS got a short corner with no time left on the clock. Our girls were able to keep the ball out of the net and pull through with a hard-earned tie. The school was very supportive of their team sending two full buses to Duncan to watch the girls play on the artificial turf.  The students brought signs as well as their voices and made it clear they were at the game to watch the 1st IX succeed.  The girls had a fantastic fan base and would like to say thanks for the support they got from their peers, coaches and teachers. This game was also featured in the Cowichan News Leader Pictorial. To read more, please use this link: http://tinyurl.com/2vrvsmc
