This morning, the 1st XI played their final pool game against Crofton House School. In a torrential downpour, Brentwood immediately went on the attack, but encountered a brick wall and simply could not put one between the posts.  Crofton's first attempt at goal was on a successful breakaway, with the ball ending up behind Renata Morris. Calm, patient, and focussed, the Brentwood team were confident that they would not be denied for long if they continued to dominate. They were not disappointed as Brigid McCormack fired one in the back of the net to tie the game. Sarah Barber put Brentwood ahead with a beautiful goal and thus secured first place for the team in their pool.  Renata was not tested much in goal, but she was there when the team needed her.
Later in the afternoon, the team played Sentinel in the quarter-finals.  Crystal Lockhart put two past the keeper on penalty corners and Denesha Doman popped in a rebound giving the team a 3-0 lead.  Sentinel were then awarded a questionable goal that was hit from outside the circle, poor lighting, no doubt, being a factor in the decision. Not to be deterred, Brentwood continued the attack and Brentwood completed the scoring when Denesha rang the ball off the post for Dani Robb to net the rebound.
Backed by an outstanding goalkeeper, the defence have been solid, allowing only two goals in the four games, while the offence has found the back of the net 13 times.  The semi-final against Collingwood School will be played at 9:30 a.m. Friday morning.
