Allard House. When I think of Allard House the first thing that comes to my mind is family. The people of Allard have become my family away from home. Everyone is so close and we all truly care about each other. One way we are able to maintain such a close relationship is through our Big-Little Sister groups.

Each group consists of one junior and two seniors. Our Big-Little Sister groups are an amazing way for us new students to talk to and interact with people in the house and create a stronger bond.

Coming into Brentwood, I was very worried about what the atmosphere of the house would be like. I was scared that I wouldn’t like my house and that I wouldn’t make any friends; however the people of Allard have become some of my closest friends. These are the people I know I can trust and depend on. In Allard there is always something going on.

For example, one night a fortnight ago at 9:15pm there was a little surprise for everyone. We were all given little Halloween bags with pumpkins and bats painted on them and were told to go to a grade 12’s room. We all excitedly ran up the stairs and banged on the doors of the grade 12’s.

“Trick or Treat!,” they all yelled as we each grabbed a handful of candy from the buckets.

Although I have lived in Allard for only a couple of months, it has felt like I have been here forever due to the way everyone is so loving and caring towards each other. Marina S, Allard ‘22 stated that “At first I was really scared because I didn’t have a roommate or friends for the first day, but then I realized that every girl was in the same situation. I went to my room where a girl was crying. I talked to her and now we are campus besties.”

Annette C, Allard ‘23 said, “The people of Allard have become like a second family to me. Everyone is so loving and caring,”

I am so glad I am able to be a part of such a loving and supportive house. We may not always win interhouse events, but we sure do have lots of love and support.
