Fall’s First Break

It’s officially that time of year for the staff and students of Brentwood. Autumn has been in effect for a couple of weeks now resulting in cooler temperatures and a panoply of leaves scattered throughout campus. The start of Fall also means the 2021-2022 school year’s first break is among us.

Despite Thanksgiving Break only being three days out of the normal four, it still give students and staff the opportunity to sit back and relax for a couple of days. For me, Fall is one of my favorite times of the year because I have many things to look forward to such as competitive soccer season and my birthday in November.

Head of Brentwood’s English Department Mr Collis loves the Fall season because of the “bleary, disquieting five minutes between the moment I open my eyes, and the moment I swallow my first cup of coffee.” Along with him, Ned B, Privett ‘23 says that “This break could not have come at a better time as I am quickly realizing that this year will be the most important of my school years thus far”.

Brentwood does not hesitate to get off to a fast start each year with many significant events already in the rearview mirror. As our Head of School, Mr Patel, often reminds us, everything that happens this year for Grade 12s like myself will be our last at the school and this break is just another example of that.

Thanksgiving Break will, without a doubt, be really nice to have this weekend and when everyone returns to normal activities on Tuesday, the road to Midterm Break in November will officially be underway.
