This year's English 12 class with Mrs Hedquist has been an exciting and enriching experience for us all. We have covered a range of topics from studying Indigenous artists to learning about Taoism through the book The Tao of Pooh by Benjamin Hoff. In this class, we are constantly challenged to think critically but more importantly, the students learn various topics as well as tips and tricks that can help us transitioning to post-secondary education.

One of the most significant units that we covered this year was the Music, Culture, and Identity unit. This unit explored the intersection of music and culture, and how it influences identities. We learned about numerous indigenous artists and their each individual stories. We conducted our own social science research paper on a topic of our choice, which gave us the opportunity to delve deeper into a specific aspect of music and culture that interested us. Through this research project, we learned how to conduct thorough research and analyze data, as well as create a proper MLA citation.

Another memorable unit that we covered in this class was The Tao of Pooh research essay. This unit allowed us to explore the basic principles of Taoism, a philosophical system from ancient China that has influenced folk and national belief. Through reading the book and conducting our own research, we learned about the principles such as Wu Wei, Cottleston Pie and The Pā€™u and how they can be applied to our daily lives to achieve inner peace and happiness. By introspecting on our own views and values, we were able to gain a deeper understanding of ourselves and the world around us.
This year's English 12 class has been an exciting experience for all of us so far. I would like to thank Mrs Hedquist for being such a great teacher making this experience so fulfilling for us.
