Energy Conservation Week

18 March 2016

On Saturday April 16, Brentwood decided to step out of the box and challenge the campus and each of the houses to a week of conserving energy. Two weeks before, the BEAT (Brentwood Environmental Action Team) measured the charts for the consumption of energy in each house. With that information, they challenged all houses to unplug themselves from the outlets and see how much power could be saved. The house with the greatest energy reduction in that time would wins a pizza dinner with the Head of School, Mr. Patel.  This annual competition reminds Brentwood students of the importance of energy conservation in their daily lives. By simply turning off their lights before class and powering down their devices, the students can save many natural resources and contribute to the protection of our environment.  We talked to one of the BEAT representatives Ellie K, Alex ‘16, and she gave us some information about the event: “Hi, it’s just like a contest to reduce energy between the houses. Why? To reduce energy and use less in hopes of saving the environment. How? Just turn off lights, unplug stuff like that!” Happy Earth Day! Solomon S, Whittall ‘18 & Daniel M, Ellis ‘18
