End of Times

22 June 2011
According to the now notoriously mathematically inept Harold Camping, the world was supposed to end on May 21st, 2011. He got it wrong…again. Perhaps Mr. Camping and his rapture-seeking followers didn’t anticipate how fast time flies. All of a sudden a date comes and goes and another event passes. It happens to all of us. At Brentwood, it seems that it was only weeks ago that we welcomed a myriad of new families to our campus in September and suddenly we find ourselves heading into the home stretch. We all know that the older we get, the faster this passage of time occurs. But even the students seem to notice. We pack so much into one year and yet, suddenly, in the blink of an eye, we are all a year older. This year, our 127 graduates will be accepting their diplomas on June 25th, 2011. Thus far, they have received nearly 500 offers of admission from 148 universities in 14 countries. Like Mr. Camping, I am no psychic, but knowing these grads the way I do, I boldly predict this group of young people will go on to do great things in this world and, more importantly, for this world. Our loss will be a tremendous gain for our planet. Congratulations graduates of 2011!
