End of Summer Bash

15 September 2018

What do you do with 555 energetic teenagers on a rainy Saturday evening in Mill Bay, BC? Why, you throw a party of course! Hence the 2018 End of Summer Bash! The fun began with a social hour, a barbecue on MacLaren Plaza with two fun competitions. First was the balloon-throwing contest, in which two partners would throw a water balloon full of icy liquid back and forth, backing further apart after every toss. The last team with their balloon intact was the champion, winning a free large pizza from Panago! The two victors were Mathieu M, and Haden U, Ellis 19, who walked off proudly with their pizza coupon. The second event was a watermelon-eating extravaganza, with seven contestants chowing down on their melon slices, throwing everything they had into devouring their way to victory. The eventual champion was Luke A, Whittall 19. For those of us who were still unsatisfied with the melon eating, and the balloon hurling, the music began at eight o’clock, although many of the Privett Grade 11s were so eager to get the party started that they dragged me out to the plaza at 7:45 to have a seven man dance off! With Omkar V and Austin O, Ellis ‘19 at the wheel, we sang and danced to Mac Miller, Cardi B, and Fergie all night long.  New and returning students alike had great things to say about the event. “Brentwood’s SAC put together another classic End of Summer Bash which successfully brought together our extremely diverse group of Brentwood students through fun and dance” said Peter Q, Ellis ‘20. I also spoke to Mikayla V, Alex ‘22 who said that it was a “really nice way to get to meet new people from different grades and houses.”  And finally, a big thank you goes out to Mrs McLean, SAC President Alex C, Ellis ‘19 and the rest of the SAC for organizing this great event!
