As the end of the year is approaching, it was about time for the school to give the students what they really wanted: an opportunity to finally try wearing a non-traditional uniform. On Wednesday, it was Brentwood’s annual Dress As You Like Day. Whether it was the girls finally having pockets to put a phone in, or the boys finally getting to experience the fresh breeze on their legs during an academic morning, there was something for everyone to enjoy. Coupled with the buzz of exams quickly approaching, it made for an interesting day overall. But it also required some strategic planning. The decision had to made as to whom to switch with, with the relative size between each other being a major factor for consideration. Ripping a friend’s extra-tight women’s dress shirt the day before Internal Awards would be less than ideal. Although it might have been an unusual sight for any touring families to see, many students took on the daunting task of putting any fears out the window, and just trying something new. “I thought it was really fun,” says Noel P, Whittall ‘19. “It kept the serious vibe of the school, but was also fun to try on the other uniforms.” “Noel looked really well put together in his borrowed, kilt” observed Mr Ganley. “He must have some Scottish blood in him.” It was an interesting switch, and one that made for an enjoyable change of scenery around the school.
