Development Field Hockey

Friday, February 22, 2019 - By: Mrs. Warner & Fuzzy

The Development Field Hockey team had a very productive and exciting season. All of the girls who played on this squad had very little to no field hockey experience at the beginning of the term. Over the course of the season, they worked very hard to improve their basic skills, as well as their tactical play on the pitch during competitions, and they showed great improvement. On numerous occasions, they travelled to the water-based and rubber turfs where they had the opportunity to showcase the skills that they worked hard to develop on the Brentwood grass fields.

The team played a number of games throughout the season and with each match significantly bettered their skills. The squad played games against different opponents from Victoria and Nanaimo and worked hard in front of the net to score goals. Their season culminated with a nine-team tournament in Victoria against teams from all over Vancouver Island. The girls played very well at this event and were able to demonstrate the gains they had made since the start of the year.

The coaches would like to thank all of the girls for their tremendous attitudes this season. We immensely enjoyed working with the entire team; their industrious work ethic and bubbly personalities were refreshing. Special recognition to our MVPs of the season, Charlotte Wright and Elisa Garcia Swiderek, and to our Most Improved Player, Atisha Roach Lloyd. We also would like to recognize Emily Ericson for her amazing goaltending. We hope to see everyone out on the pitch next year!

Grab your stick and hit that ball.

We’re not just some barbie doll.

Pass, shoot, put it in the net.

The other team's in trouble I bet.

Go Brentwood!
