Development Field Hockey
The Development Field Hockey team had a very productive and exciting season. Many of the girls who played on this squad had very little to no field hockey experience at the beginning of the term. Over the course of the season, they worked very hard to improve their basic skills, as well as their tactical play on the pitch during competitions, and showed great improvement. On numerous occasions, they travelled to the water-based turf in Duncan where they had the opportunity to showcase the skills that they worked hard to develop on the Brentwood grass fields.
The team played a number of games throughout the season and, with each match, bettered their skills significantly. The squad played games against different opponents from Victoria and Nanaimo and worked hard in front of the net to score goals. Their season culminated with an eight-team tournament in Nanaimo against squads from all of Vancouver Island. The girls played very well at this tournament and were able to demonstrate the gains they made since the start of the year.
The coaches would like to thank all of the girls for their tremendous attitudes this season. We immensely enjoyed working with the entire team; their industrious work ethic and bubbly personalities were refreshing. Special thanks to our Captain Natalie B and Assistant Captain Solveig C for their leadership and never-ending enthusiasm. We hope to see everyone out on the pitch next year. Go Dev Reds!
