The Vancouver Canucks are not the only local hockey players still in action. Dani R, well know in the Brentwood community as an accomplished athlete (First 11 Field Hockey, Senior A Hockey, starting fullback for the Girls’ XV) will be spending this weekend competing in the Western Canadian Shield Senior Women’s Hockey Championship. Playing on a team from Delta, Dani will compete against 9 other teams representing Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia in 50th anniversary of the tournament. Most of her competitors will have finished university level hockey. Each team is the provincial champion in their category.

Dani’s goal for the fall is to attend St. Francis Xavier University in Antigonish, Nova Scotia and play for their Varsity Women’s hockey team. Dani is also being courted by the St. FX varsity rugby team and was listed as one of the Cowichan News Leader Pictorial’s Top 15 Youth Athletes for 2010.
