Cross Country Warms Up

11 October 2021

Over the past three weeks, the Brentwood Cross Country Team has participated in the Cowichan Valley Race Series. Distances ranged from 2 to 5.4 kms depending on the age category. Many schools from the Cowichan Valley, Nanaimo, and Ladysmith came to the races.

Our first race at Bright Angel Park went really well. In Junior Girls, Luise was 2nd and Mia 3rd. In Senior Girls, Neve was 1st.

The second race was at Shawnigan Lake School where Luise and Neve both placed second.

The third race was at Glenora. In Junior Girls, again, Luise was 2nd and Mia 3rd. In Senior Girls Neve was 1st and Evan 3rd in Senior Boys

We would also like to acknowledge the many ribbons earned by Brentwood runners placing from 4th to 8th place including Jenisha, Will, Katelyn, Edith, Sam, Finn, Emily, Pilar, Hazel, Ty, Lily, Eden, Ronan, Lucinda, and Edward.

The final race will be next week at Cobble Hill. Brentwood will be co-hosting the race with Kelsey, so many of our students will be marshalling. Island Qualifiers, which grants berths to provincials, will take place Wednesday, October 20th, so the season is far from over yet.

A huge thank you to Mrs Reynolds and Mr Skardal for all of their encouragement and support, the transportation team for getting us to our races, and food services for supplying us with snacks. We look forward to being back here later this month with great results from Islands.
