Creative Science Class Talks Spacecraft Design

19 April 2010
Dave. McCarthy
Mr. Trevor Williams visited our creative science classes to talk about spacecraft design. Trevor has worked in the aerospace industry for many years as a design engineer, including managing a team of scientists working on the design and launch of Canada's RadarSat 2 satellite. Trevor's presentation outlines the way complex operations such as building a $500 million satellite, can be broken down into simpler steps and how a team can collaborate to achieve their overall goals. Later this term our creative science students will be designing and launching their own rockets and so to have a real-life "rocket scientist" in their midst today was a great opportunity to ask questions. Currently, Trevor is working on a PhD at the University of Victoria connected with his other passion, the environment.
