In early December, a group of Brentwood students went to Vancouver to participate in Connect Model United Nations. After preparing for weeks, we were all varying degrees of excited and nervous to delivery our points. From a security council on the topic of the Korean peninsula, to a committee on international lawmaking, and everything in between, we were all able to participate in committees for which we had a passion.

Although some of us started with more nerves than excitement, it was amazing to watch everyone find their voice throughout the weekend. “It was nice that we were all able to talk at one point, because it really helped me build confidence”, says Aatya U, a first-time MUNner in Grade 11.

Brentwood students did extremely well. Out of the twelve committees in the conference consisting of around 300 people, Brentwood took home five ‘Best Delegate’ awards and two ‘Outstanding Delegate’ awards, an achievement the team was extremely proud of.

Many thanks to all the coaches and individuals who made this weekend possible.
