Colts Victory over Welsh touring team

Last Tuesday, Brentwood's Colts rugby team squared off against Welsh touring side Cyfarthfa. The match proved to be a spirited, wide open affair with both teams willing to throw the ball around in their attempts to play wide open and entertaining rugby. The Welsh benefitted from several talented players, especially in the centres, and these players provided plenty of attacking opportunities. The Brentwood players, however, were up to the task defensively and held steady throughout the game. Two skillfully constructed tries by the Welsh team, both unconverted, were matched by Brentwood through a lineout drive scored by the forwards and a scintillating effort by centre Wes Desjardins. The difference in the match was provided by Simon Friderich's boot through a conversion. The final score favoured Brentwood, 12-10. This was a tremendous opportunity for the Brentwood boys to play against a team that comes from a rich rugby tradition. Credit should go to both teams for their approach to the match and congratulations to Brentwood for a well-earned win.
