Colts Snag Jags

On Saturday, May the 5th, the Brentwood Colts Rugby team travelled to Victoria to play a match against St. Michaels Blue Jags during their alumni weekend. Having lost narrowly to SMUS before Spring Break, and coming off a disappointing defeat to SLS two weeks prior, the Colts had something to prove, and rise to the occasion they did.

The game came to full steam with penalty kicks being scored by both sides. SMUS, being a team of speed and wide runners, found it difficult to contest with Brentwood at the breakdowns and tackle situations. The Colts took full advantage of this with the inclusions of many forward balls, followed by line-breaking runs from the backline.

After a close first half, Brentwood ran away with the game, 33-11. Honorable mentions go to scrumhalf Thomas S, who went 5 of 7 off the kicking tee, and also to Dane B, who debuted his strength and speed picking up 5 points of his own.

All in all it was an excellent team effort in a display of some of the finest rugby the squad has played all year. We will now go up against Lower Island powerhouse Oak Bay High school on Thursday afternoon.
