Clyde Ogilvie: the untimely passing of a true Brentonian

16 August 2012
It is with great sadness that we inform our community of the sudden passing of our beloved Clyde Ogilvie earlier this morning. Clyde served as Brentwood’s CFO for 25 years, retiring in December 2010.  His tenure bridged two long-serving Heads of School: Mr. Ross and Mrs. Pennells, and a period of impressive growth in the size and stature of the school.

But Clyde was much more to our community than just a financial administrator.  He served as coach of the girls’ senior basketball team for 10 years, including three trips to the provincial championships.  He also helped Mr. Johnston coach the senior boys, and was a frequent volunteer referee.  He was an Assistant Houseparent in Rogers House, and even ran Ogilvie House, a small residence for girls, for a few years. During the summer he coordinated campus rentals from corporate seminars to weddings and anniversaries.

Clyde also had deep roots of service in the local community, and was deservedly recognized as Mill Bay’s “Volunteer of the Year” in 2010.

Clyde knew more than most about our human need for community and compassion. Our thoughts and prayers are with Lynne, their family and with Clyde whom we will miss so much.
