During last weekend's reunion festivities, the Class of '79 challenged the Class of '89 in a rowing race held on the shores of Brentwood. Coxswains Megan Toriglia ('09) and Sarah Bell-Etkin ('08) led the two teams to the finish line by the school's docks. These Old Brentonian crews were comprised of novice and experienced rowers, including a former Olympian.

Organized by Tammie (Morrison) Toriglia ('79), the purpose of the race was to raise money for the Women's Boat Fund. Tammie, the first female Head Prefect at Brentwood, used her persuasive abilities to recruit rowers and raise $2,000, helping the women's fund pass the half-way mark of $40,000 to its fund-raising goal of $80,000 by the 40th Anniversary of the Brentwood Regatta in April 2010. This fund aims to endow an 8-person shell for the women's rowing program for perpetuity. Many thanks to the rowers, organizers, and donors who helped make this grassroots fundraising event such a success.
