Claiming the Stage at the Victoria Music Festival

Like an early morning fog, the Brentwood dancers enveloped the stage with their powerful presence. On Wednesday, the 28th of April, the junior, intermediate, and advanced dance classes made their way to Victoria for their first performance of the year. Many high schools also came to be a part of this festival hoping to prove themselves to the adjudicator. Each dance portrayed its own unique style and emotion; none lacked in energy. All the hard work these dancers put towards their performances led to great comments from the adjudicator. One thing that stood out to her was when Delaney M, Hope ’16, held a handstand center stage while the rest of the class danced around her. For some, this was their first time performing for an audience. Despite the pressure they may have felt, each individual gave it her all, which did not go unnoticed. The Brentwood dance program gives students a chance to learn and develop their skills. It inspires creativity and hones in on each dancer’s strengths, while also encouraging them to expand beyond their comfort zone. The dedication of the Brentwood dancers is clearly shown every time they take the stage. This always leads to unforgettable performances like the pieces taken to the Victoria Music Festival. Good job dancers! Keep working hard. Lily S, Hope ‘17
